What's YOUR location?

One of the first questions clients ask me is: “Where should we take our photos?” The location you choose sets the tone for your entire session, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Below is a few things to consider when picking the perfect spot.

Think About Your Story

Your photos should reflect you.

  • Do you feel most at home in the mountains, by the lake, or in a field of tall grass?
  • Do you want something adventurous and wild, or soft and romantic?
  • Choose a location that feels like your story, not just a pretty backdrop.

Consider the Season

North Idaho’s scenery changes dramatically throughout the year.

Spring: Wildflowers + fresh greens

Summer: Golden fields + lake views

Fall: Vibrant foliage + cozy vibes

Winter: Snowy, magical landscapes

Timing can help narrow down the perfect spot. Check out this blog post!

Light Matters More Than Location

The truth is — the best photos are all about the light.

  • Sunset and sunrise (golden hour) bring soft, glowing tones.
  • Even a simple field can feel magical with the right lighting.
  • Trust me to guide you on timing so your location looks its best.

Accessibility & Comfort

Think about how much walking or hiking you’d like to do.

Want something adventurous? We can hike into the woods or up a ridge.

Want something relaxed? There are plenty of beautiful spots with easy access.

Consider if you’ll have kids, heels, or grandparents with you — comfort matters too!

Make It Meaningful

Some of the best sessions happen in places that mean something to you: The trail you always hike together. A cozy family cabin. Your favorite coffee shop or backyard. These places tell your story in a way no one else’s photos can.
